Welcome to Myron's Delicatessen
Bernie Goldstein, founder, Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. was the driving force behind the creation of Myron’s Delicatessen. Born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois, Bernie lived there his entire life, but his parents moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1952 so Bernie and delicatessen was a priority, as was looking to see which comedians were performing in the area — Myron Cohen was their favorite. It was in Myron Cohen’s honor that Bernie developed the concept of sense of humor and the delight of a good pastrami and corned beef sandwich. It is a tribute to Jewish tradition, a belly of laughter and the best sandwich around.” Sadly, Bernie passed away in July, 2009, but his memory and spirit will always be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
MYRON COHEN
Perhaps the greatest Jewish storyteller in history, he talked slowly, but always had audiences on the edge of their seats. He was a favorite in the Catskills “Borscht Belt” and on the TV talk show circuit during the 1960s and 1970s, where he told the many anecdotes he had collected over a lifetime. Some of Myron’s expressions, including “Such a Pleasure,” along with titles of his books and albums can be found in the delicatessen and on the uniforms of our team members.
